This is just one of many incredible sights we saw in Ontario... the colours
were everywhere! The PetFriendly "home" is located in Alberta, and
if you're familiar with Alberta you know that we don't see these types of
things over here (hey, at least we have the Rocky Mountains). The brilliant
reds, oranges, and golds made for a beautiful backdrop for our drive through
Ontario.
This photo was taken just outside the Portage Store in Algonquin Park, near
Huntsville. Although the weather wasn't the greatest that day, lots of people
were still heading out in canoes. Canoeing through Algonquin Park is a popular,
peaceful way to explore the area.
Here's a photo of the Portage Store against a background of colour. When we
talked to the friendly person at the store about whether or not we could bring
our dogs in the canoe, he amiably said, "Sure!". I don't know if they
rent lifejackets for dogs, so best if you purchase one yourself. Before you haul
your dogs out there, give them a quick call to see if dogs are still welcome.
(and you might want to get your dog accustomed to the canoe before taking them
out onto open water!)
This photo was taken from the top of a cliff in a park just outside Algonquin.
The name of the park unfortunately escapes me, but it's located just outside the
West Gate.
Ontario has many secluded roads like this one where you can drive down a quiet
stretch of road, surrounded by trees.
One of many rivers lined by fall colours.
Beautiful little lake in The Chutes Provincial Park,
enroute between Sudbury and Sault Ste. Marie.
On our drive through Ontario back towards home, we crested the top of a hill
on the TransCanada Highway north of Sault Ste. Marie. We were greeted with a bright
canvass of colour as far as the eye could see! Many little hills covered in with
masses of red, orange, and gold, with sparkling blue lakes nestled in between.
The photo doesn't do it justice.
Never considered fall travel before?
It's a great time to travel with your dog
and enjoy a peaceful walk or hike together!
